Run Now, Brunch Later

How a team name became a design — and why the best shirts start with a story that already belongs to everyone

Before there was a shirt, there was a name. And before the name, there was a group of women who had been training together, encouraging each other, and — let's be honest — already thinking about where they were going to eat after the race.

I was one of them. That matters, because this project didn't start as a client order. It started as a conversation between teammates trying to answer the question every race team eventually has to answer: what are we called?

We landed on Run Now Brunch Later — and the moment it was said out loud, everyone knew it was right. It was funny, it was honest, and it captured something true about who we are as women who take their training seriously but also know that the table you sit around after a hard race is just as important as the miles that got you there.

The name wasn't just a fun phrase. It was a shared value — work hard, celebrate well, do it all together.

Once we had the name, the design had a clear direction. The shirt needed to carry that same energy: something that felt sporty enough for race day but had a personality that reflected all of us. Every element we chose — the typography, the layout, the details — came back to that same balance of grit and joy that the name already captured so well.

Designing something for a group you're actually part of is a different kind of creative challenge. You're not interpreting someone else's vision from the outside. You're trying to make something that every woman on the team sees herself in — and that's only possible when you've actually trained alongside them, laughed with them, and shown up on the same hard days they have.

On race day, wearing that shirt felt like carrying the whole team with you. When someone hit a tough stretch, you looked over and saw your teammate in the same shirt, and you remembered: we trained for this, all of us, and we're finishing it the same way we started — together.

The brunch afterward? Absolutely earned.

If your team, group, or community deserves a name and a shirt that actually represents who you are — I'd love to be part of building that with you.
